Elementary Education: Education Specialist (Ed.S.)

Program Description

Education Specialist candidates complete 66 hours of graduate study beyond the bachelor's degree (36 hours above the M.Ed.). The Education Specialist degree offers candidates a program with emphasis in elementary education and is intended for candidates who wish to earn a post master's graduate degree that leads to an AAA certification. All Education Specialist candidates complete a manuscript for submission to a peer reviewed periodical, present the manuscript to departmental faculty, and complete 65 clock hours of field-based learning opportunities.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants to the program must meet these requirements:

• 3.25 GPA on all previous graduate coursework
• AA License (or eligibility for) in the content or related area
• 2 years teaching or relevant experience (letter from employer on letterhead)
• Competitive GRE score
• Writing Sample
• Two (2) Disposition Assessment Forms

• March 1 (summer and fall admission)
