The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science is accepting applications for a faculty position

in Chemistry for the 2014-2015 academic year. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach

advanced chemistry courses including AP Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Analytical

Chemistry. The ability and expertise to teach courses in other areas would be desirable, especially in

biology or physics. Final teaching assignments will depend upon student needs. Because of the unique

nature of MSMS and its mission, all faculty and staff members are expected to provide state and national

leadership in their respective areas of expertise.



The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science is a public, residential high school for academically

gifted and talented eleventh and twelfth grade students located on the campus of the Mississippi

University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi. The mission is “to enhance the future of Mississippi

by providing innovative learning experiences in a residential environment to meet individual needs of

gifted and talented students and by providing quality educational leadership and aggressive outreach

How to Apply:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Master’s Degree or above in related area. An earned doctorate is preferred.

2. Five years of teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level. A valid Mississippi

teaching license (endorsement 185) is desirable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

1. Salary is based upon the established position scale. Beginning salary ranges are from $50,000

to $54,000.

2. The position is contracted for 190 days.

3. Reporting date will be August, 2014.
