In partnership with the Momentous Institute (Dallas, TX) and Perea Preschool (Memphis, TN), Perea Elementary School will apply thoroughly researched best practice to prepare our students academically, socially, and emotionally for success today and tomorrow. Dean of Curriculum and Instruction
We are currently searching for a Founding Dean of Curriculum and Instruction who will oversee the implementation of academic intelligence programming, including curricula, curricular resources, assessments, and instruction. S/he will report to the Executive Director. Responsibilities include:

Establishing high standards for academic excellence across all classrooms
-
Providing ongoing observation, coaching, and professional development for
teachers in order to continually improve teaching practices

Monitoring student progress and applying needed instructional interventions
-
Supporting the Executive Director and faculty in developing, refining, and
aligning the school’s curriculum and assessments
-
Providing significant support to teachers as they interpret and apply student
achievement data
-
Advising the Executive Director regarding personnel decisions for instructional
staff
-
Providing leadership for teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff
-
Modeling best practices by teaching model lessons as needed
-
Overseeing the administration of all standardized testing procedures with fidelity
-
Providing all instructional staff with support and accountability aligned to Perea’s
Commitment for Student Success, which includes the following:
o Rigorously developing our students’ academic skills
o Supporting the school’s unique approach to developing students’ social-
emotional skills
o Fostering a learning environment that has structure and smiles o Providing high-quality learning experiences all day, every day
o Making sure that students understand how deeply their teachers care for them
o Listening well to the compliments and concerns of students, parents, and community members
o Keeping parents regularly informed about their children’s academic and social-emotional progress
o Creating a strong, student-centered relationship between home and school o Encouraging in-depth parent participation in the life of the school
o Utilizing available resources to help families support each other
Qualifications
We are seeking a talented, committed, and results-driven leader who:

Is passionate about the compelling mission of Perea Elementary School

Has successfully and dramatically increased the academic achievement levels of
low-income and minority students; minimum of three years’ experience preferred
-
Has a strong ability to plan thoughtfully and execute with attention to detail
-
Possesses strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive
relationships with colleagues, students, and parents
-
Demonstrates the utmost personal and professional integrity
-
Holds a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with a strong record of academic
achievement and a Tennessee Teacher License (or eligibility to obtain one)
