Jay Levy began teaching at Pisgah High School after a car crash left him in a wheelchair during his junior year at Ole Miss. Nonetheless, Levy led 53 students at the Title I school to a 98.1% passage rate on the English II Subject Area Test Program—the highest passage rate in Mississippi—during his first year teaching.

Now that's a Rebel Teacher!

Courtney PearsonPearson Named First African American Homecoming Queen

Ole Miss secondary education major Courtney Pearson was named 2012 Homecoming Queen and is the first African American to receive this honor.

Pearson is prouder of the students than of herself for receiving this title. "I didn't do this alone," she said. "I ran and I hoped that I would win but it was the student body that elected me it and this shows how progressive Ole Miss has become." Read More...
