For Smithville High School librarian Kerry Baker, earning an online M.Ed. in literacy education is helping rebuild her school.

In April 2011, the building was destroyed by an EF-5 tornado placing students and teachers in temporary classrooms. Last summer, what started as an online class, turned into a successful $15,000 grant proposal to Dollar General to buy books and promote literacy programs for a new library.
