    Dr. Alina Harges has spent over two decades passionately dedicated to the field of K-12 education in the state of Mississippi. Her journey in the field of education has included roles in both general and special education, providing her with a comprehensive perspective on inclusive and equitable education for all students. Dr. Harges' research interests include a particular focus on behavior, multicultural education, and clinical experiences for teacher candidates in the areas of elementary, secondary, and alternate route teacher education programs. Currently, Dr. Alina Harges serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at the University of Mississippi. In this role, she continues to inspire and mentor the next generation of teachers while remaining at the forefront of educational research and innovation. Dr. Harges has presented her research at several international, national, and state conferences throughout her tenure as an educator.

Meet Dr. Alina Harges

Dr. Alina Harges is a four-time graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Education, with a bachelor's and master's in elementary education, and specialist degree in curriculum and instruction, and a Ph.D. in special education. Dr. Harges joined the SOE Board of Advisors in Fall 2024.

What led you to want to serve on the School of Education Board of Advisors?

I was fortunate to be nominated/asked to serve, and I am honored to have this opportunity.

Why did you choose to attend UM and the School of Education?

I have always been inspired by the University of Mississippi, and several of my former teachers attended school here.

Tell us about your favorite professor(s) at the School of Education? How did they make a positive impact on your professional and personal pursuits?

I must say all of my professors have positively inspired me in some capacity. I am grateful for what each of them from the School of Education have instilled in me.

Tell us about your proudest moment in education.

My proudest moment in education was when I pursued and completed my doctorate degree.

Do you have any advice for our current students?

Always know that teachers serve to make a difference in the lives of children, understanding this makes the job so much easier.
