Here's what a holistic educational approach looks like at the SOE.
The School of Education makes sure that:
- Our degrees are affordable (or better yet, entirely free!). We offer over 70 scholarship opportunities, multiple graduate assistantships, and programs like METP, the Mississippi Teacher Corps, and the Mississippi Principal Corps that help pay most if not all of your tuition.
- Your journey from student to educator should be as simple as possible. That's why we have dedicated academic counselors for undergraduate and graduate students that will help you with admissions, course registration, graduation, and Mississippi state licensure.
- You get hands-on practical experiences to make sure you're ready for the classroom. We offer unique opportunities like TeachLive, the Clinic for Outreach and Personal Enrichment, research centers, and field experience placements, so you can practice what you've learned.
- You have lifelong learning opportunities to become a better teacher every year. We offer partnerships and programs like NMEC, WCTP, and CELI so you can level up with professional development and continuing education credits.
- You are part of a community of educators working together to teach the next generation of leaders. You'll have access to a country-wide, community-engaged mentorship from 65 knowledgeable, full-time faculty and clinical partners in 75+ schools and clinical or practicum sites.
