Why the SOE?

Change your life today to change student lives tomorrow.

Why pursue a degree with the School of Education?

We've all had an experience in school that changed our lives. Maybe it was a teacher and their amazing classroom, a counselor that reached out at the right time, or a principal that steered the school to greater successwhatever it was, it profoundly changed the course of our lives.

  • That's the power of education. A good, quality education changes lives. Pure and simple.
  • There's a ripple effect to a good education. Teachers, counselors, and school admin have the chance to teach for the moment to change lives forever.
  • It is no small task. One that is at the center of our society and all the lives in it.

That's why the School of Education at the University of Mississippi takes a holistic approach to its undergraduate and graduate programs.

We create teachers, counselors, and administrative staff because we know that each one of these roles is integral to the wellbeing of children throughout K-12 education.

  • Everything we do rests upon a student-centered approach where our students receive the personalized support and resources needed to excel as a student and an educator.

Why should you become a teacher?

Let our students tell you what education is all about!

Voice of Experience

"I have always loved history and school and have had the best teachers who were role models for me growing up. I was considering law school and was accepted to the three I applied to, but I really loved teaching. I know I made the correct decision."
