Dennis Bunch is an assistant professor of K-12 Educational Leadership. Dr. Bunch received his Ed.D. from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, his M.Ed. from the University of Arkansas and his B.S.E. from Arkansas State University. He has worked in public schools in Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee as a classroom teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. Dr. Bunch serves on the National Advisory Committee for ETS in the redesign of the School Leaders Licensure Assessment.

Douglas R. Davis, Ph.D is an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership. His main areas of expertise and research are teacher assessment and professional development, the preparation of educational leaders, and history and philosophy of education. Dr. Davis has published in many educational journals and has presented at over fifty scholarly and professional conferences. He is currently the Editor of The Journal of Personnel Evaluation in Education and is past president of the Society of Philosophy and History of Education. He was a public high school social studies teacher and coach in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for seven years.

Amy Wells Dolan is an associate dean and an associate professor of Higher Education. She was a UM Faculty Research Fellow for 2006-07. She has professional experience in student affairs administration and fundraising. Her research interests include higher education history; specifically the development of southern research universities and the collegiate extra curriculum. She earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Kentucky, her masters degree in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Transylvania University.

Dr. Gauthier has taught in public schools at both the elementary and secondary levels, in addition to serving as an educational diagnostician. Before accepting his present position at the University of Mississippi, he was a member of the faculty at East Central University (OK) and the University of Houston. His main research focus is Reading Comprehension, an area in which he has published a number of articles in professional journals, including The Reading Teacher, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, Intervention in School and Clinic, and Reading Horizons.

Dr. Hanshaw's research interests include cooperative group testing, curriculum issues in science education, and the improvement of the preparation of teachers. Kerry Brian Melear is Associate Professor of Higher Education. His areas of expertise include college and university legal, financial, and public policy concerns, and he actively publishes and presents in those areas. He teaches courses in higher education law, finance, human resources, and international higher education. Dr. Melear was honored to receive the University of Mississippi School of Education's Researcher of the Year Award in 2007 and 2010. He has worked as an auditor for a Big Six accounting firm, a research associate (doctoral fellow) with the Florida Postsecondary Education Planning Commission, a higher education policy analyst with the Florida Legislature, and a member of the graduate faculty of two universities. He is a member of the Author's Committee of West's Education Law Reporter, the Book Review Editor for the Journal of Law and Education, a Regional Reporter (state higher education cases) for the School Law Reporter, and was for seven years the editor of The College Administrator and the Courts, a quarterly publication briefing legal cases of interest to university attorneys, administrators, and legal researchers. Dr. Melear is the Education Law Association's Director of Membership for the State of Mississippi, and is a former member of the Advisory Board of the University of Mississippi's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and the Board of Directors of the Oxford-Lafayette County Literacy Council. He is a member of the Education Law Association, the Council on Law in Higher Education, the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and the American Educational Research Association. |

Dr. Monroe is also the lead instructor for The Mississippi Teacher Corps' initial summer training program. She has taught in The School of Education since 2003. Previously, Dr. Monroe was a third grade teacher with the Hamilton County School System in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor's Degree from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, her Master's from The University of Mississippi, and her Doctor of Education Degree from The University of Mississippi.

Assistant Professor of Elementary Education joins the faculty in August of this year. Dr. Moore will be teaching elementary education courses at the Ole Miss Tupelo campus. She received her Doctorate in Teacher Education from The University of Mississippi. Dr. Moore has served as a Reading Interventionist and Elementary Teacher for Lafayette County Schools in Oxford, MS, for seventeen years as well as serving as a Clinical Instructor with Ole Miss. She has co-authored several articles, presented at numerous national, state, and local conferences, and served on several grant-writing teams for state and local grants.

Dr. Niemeyer is an Assistant Professor of K-12 Educational Leadership and currently serves as the Co-director of the Mississippi Teacher Corps as well as the Coordinator of Recruitment and Outreach for the School of Education. Dr. Niemeyer represents the academic departments within the School of Education involving recruitment efforts for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Prior to his current administrative role, he served as the Director of the University of Mississippi Grenada Center for three years. His main area of expertise and research are in the areas of educational law and policy. He is currently the editor of monthly legal updates for the Safe, Orderly, and Productive School Institute that are distributed to school districts throughout the states of Mississippi and Arkansas. Dr. Niemeyer is a member of the Education Law Association (ELA) and the Southern Political Science Association. Dr. Niemeyer has ten years of experience as a former teacher and administrator in both public and private schools in the state of Mississippi. He also served over 14 years in the Mississippi Army National Guard achieving the rank of Captain. Dr. Niemeyer received his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Education in Educational Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. |

Mark Ortwein began his career in education at Chetopa High School in Chetopa, Kansas. Here he taught language arts to grades 7-12, as well as 8th grade civics and yearbook. Having completed (and loved) three years of teaching-and an MS in teaching at Pittsburg State University (2007) along the way-he chose to pursue his PhD in Teacher Education at Texas A&M University. At A&M professor Ortwein developed his present research agenda in the philosophy of education and curriculum theory-especially in the areas of knowledge and virtue epistemology. He presently holds the title of Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at The University of Mississippi.

James S. Payne is Professor of Special Education at The University of Mississippi. He served as the Dean of the School of Education from 1985 to 1996. Prior to being a Dean, he was a faculty member for 15 years at The University of Virginia. He received his doctorate, with honors, from The University of Kansas in 1970 and in 2003 he was a senior lecturer and taught for one year at Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, Turkey, as a Fulbright Scholar.

Stacie Pettit holds a Ph.D. in Middle School Education from the University of Georgia. She holds a M.Ed. in Middle School Education from Augusta State University. Her undergraduate Middle School Education degree from the University of Georgia included concentrations in mathematics and language arts education. She holds K-12 gifted and English to Speakers of Other Languages certifications. She taught in suburban and urban public schools for seven years. Dr. Plants teaching and professional interests focus on effective integration of technology in teaching and learning in K12 and teacher education. Additional interests include online learning, mobile technologies, technology and computational thinking, and related research. He is a current member of the Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education. As a graduate of the School's teacher education program, Dr. Plants returned to the university after serving at the Center for the Study of Learning, Instruction, and Teacher Development as Senior Research Associate where he was involved with studies of best practices of teacher education and technology. Additionally, he has served at Vanderbilt University's Learning Technology Center as Project Manager for the school's Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology Grant (PT3). He began his career as Research Associate in the Center for the Study of Educational Policy at the University of Memphis. He holds an Ed.D. (2000) in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Memphis.

Dr. David Rock is the Dean of the School of Education at the University of Mississippi. He received his B.S. in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University, M.A. in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida, and Ed. D. in Teacher Education from the University of Central Florida. Dr. Rock has taught mathematics in Florida and Mississippi at the middle and high school level. He has conducted a multitude of educational workshops and seminars at local, state, and national conferences in which his goal is to increase interest and enthusiasm of the teaching and learning of mathematics. He is the developer of the Internet Math Contests (http://mathcontest.olemiss.edu), which encourages students to utilize the Internet to solve challenging mathematics problems from across the globe. David has also co-authored 15 books including Teaching Secondary Mathematics (2006), Scratch Your Brain Where It Itches (2001, 2006, 2008), and Teaching K-6 Mathematics (2003).

A native of Louisville, MS. earned a B.S. in elementary education, a master in early childhood education, a master in educational leadership, and a doctorate in Teacher Education from the University of MS. Presently she is employed with the University of MS as an Assistant Professor of Teacher Education in the School of Education. She has served as faculty member in the School of Education for the past three (3) years and four (4) years as an IHL faculty for the Barksdale Reading Institute. Previously, Dr. Thompson served as a first and second grade teacher, assistant principal and retired from Oxford Elementary School as a principal in Oxford, Mississippi. She in now serving in various capacities with organizations such as Boys & Girls Club, Leap Frog, Lafayette County School Board, MS PTA Board, Baptist Memorial Hospital Community Advisory Board, and AKA Sorority.

Dr. Tabitha Young currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi. She obtained her Doctorate of Philosophy in Counselor Education 2010, and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with the state of Florida and a Licensed Associate Counselor with the state of Arkansas. Since graduation with her Master's in 2004, she has worked as a mental health counselor for couples, families, and individuals in inpatient, outpatient, home-based, and school settings. Dr. Young's research interests include counselor development, outcome-based studies, empirically based treatments (viz. MI, CBT, & MBCT), group counseling, spirituality in counseling, and process addictions.

Tamara Hillmer works with the Center for Excellence in Literacy Instruction (CELI) and is an instructor in the Department of Teacher Education teaching literacy courses to undergraduate teacher candidates. Mrs. Hillmer has been at Ole Miss (full-time) since 2008. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Blue Mountain College. Mrs. Hillmer earned her M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction and Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi. Mrs. Hillmer has taught eleven years in the public school system (Technology/Writing Coach - 3 years and Classroom Teacher - 8 years) where she served in the following capacities: Teacher Support Team Coordinator, Technology Coordinator, Yearbook Editor, WebMaster, and Reading Specialist. Tamara Hillmer was chosen as Teacher of the Year twice during her teaching career and was also awarded the University of Mississippi's Outstanding Master Degree Student in Elementary Education in 2006. The 2012-2013 academic year will be Mrs. Hillmer's first year as Assistant Director of Willie Price University Nursery School. |
